What is HDPE?
Over ninety percent of POLYWOOD lumber is made from post-consumer bottle waste, such as detergent and milk bottles. POLYWOOD's lumber is made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This material is cleaned using a decontamination process to a high purity level. This process removes contaminants such as residue, food residue, adhesives and paper. It is then compounded into a rigid board stock material. The finished product contains over 90% recycled plastic by weight.
Durability, Strength and Resilience
Because HDPE products are made with a single, purified polymer, they are manufactured to exacting, reproducible specifications. They have exceptional resistance to corrosive substances, fuels, insects, oil and fungi, salt spray, and other environmental stresses. Because they do not absorb moisture, they will not splinter, rot, or crack. HDPE products also have excellent weathering and fade resistance. This makes them impervious to and unaffected by all weather; including salt water, mildew and chlorine. These products do not require painting, water-proofing, staining, or similar maintenance when used in many exterior applications. POLYWOOD® Cushions are made from Sunbrella® Fabrics, offering the best year-round performance in outdoor settings.
For optimal performance and longevity of the product, POLYWOOD also uses genuine stainless steel hardware.
Sturdy, Stable and Heavy Duty Are you tired of your lawn furniture being blown all over your yard? If so, keep in mind that the weight of a POLYWOOD chair is similar to a hardwood chair, which averages 30 to 50 lbs. each. Therefore, you will not need to worry about your outdoor furniture blowing away – even in strong winds!
Assembly Minimum assembly is required with POLYWOOD furniture. There are some pieces that unfold straight out of the box with no assembly needed! The POLYWOOD furniture that does require assembly typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. All furniture comes standard with basic tools and simple instructions.
